BIOGRAPHY
François Ventura was born in 1967 in Vevey, Switzerland. Originally from La Tour-de-Peilz, he spent his entire childhood there and attended school there. He continued his studies at the University of Lausanne, where he obtained a Doctorate in Medicine and later a Master of Business Administration.
As a teenager, he made his first silver prints in the family cellar, then took his camera and lenses to many countries around the world. A lover of the mountains, he photographed the ascent of the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, Dent d'Hérens, and more.
Since 2017, he has been tirelessly photographing the same section of the lake and its mirror effects from his home in Lutry, depending on the light. In 2022, the book Miroir du Léman – LAKE A MIRROR, edited by Favre publishing, was immediately selected as a Payot favourite and its launch took place at the Swiss Camera Museum in Vevey. In 2023, the book was presented among others at the Open Books exhibition at the Musée de l'Élysée in Lausanne in collaboration with EPFL + ECAL Lab. This was followed by exhibitions at the Musée du Léman gallery in Nyon and others under the artistic direction of Murs Porteurs.
Dr François Ventura currently practises as a specialist in intensive care and anaesthesia in Geneva, and as an emergency doctor for helicopter rescue in the Valais Alps. Former medical director of a medical technology company and expert in the field of sepsis, he is currently pursuing scientific research in this field.
